Platform for future lighting (OLEDs)

An organic light emitting diode (OLED) is a solid-state device composed of a layer of organic material sandwiched between two conductors that create light when an electric current is applied to the two conductors. The HOSS brings to market a unique, real-time sensing, self-adjusting OLED skylight control system that will minimize energy losses while maximizing available daylighting.

Fewest roof penetrations

The HOSS product is designed for both new construction as well as retrofit.  Substantially fewer penetrations than TDD (Tubular Daylighting Device), and fewer penetrations than conventional passive skylight solutions.

Recent analysis has shown that sky lighting has enormous potential to provide energy
savings in single-story commercial buildings. Recognizing this, some utilities provide
incentive programs to encourage their customers to consider adding high performance
Daylighting systems in their buildings.

The HOSS is a real-time sensing, self-adjusting skylight control system. The technology,
which automatically closes the vanes from sunset until sunrise, will enable buildings with
skylights to meet the new “Dark Sky” Ordinances. These municipal ordinances are being
adopted by a large number of cities and towns and are aimed at eliminating night
‘light pollution”.
